This go around has some pretty big films in theaters, but The Devil Wears Prada 2, the sequel to the original 2006 David Frankel-directed comedy drama is poised to clear the $300 million mark before Mother’s Day weekend or at the very least by the time it’s up. The film currently sits, at the time of writing, at circa $247,308,623 worldwide ticket sales.
Breaking things down as it stands, the domestic box office sits at $90,708,623 while its international box office makes up for that with $156,600,000.
Meanwhile, beyond The Devil Wears Prada 2, Michael continues to be a — controversial — mixtape powerhouse for the biopic scene. It’s going into its third weekend and it’s still going impressively strong for what it is, very much blowing through the 12-day run of fellow music biopic Bohemian Rhapsody, though it remains under the overall earnings so far.
We have a hunch it’ll surpass the Queen-centered biopic eventually, especially as Lionsgate foresees more films in the future, but right now it has to play second fiddle for now. But, hey, while Michael has a controversial development, Prada 2 only really has the unfortunate lack of Nate.
