Last year, it was confirmed Devil Wears Prada 2 would not feature Adrian Grenier as Nate, meanwhile other actors, such as Anne Hathaway, Meryl Streep, Stanley Tucci, and Emily Blunt all reprise their roles. That said, director David Frankel wanted to sneak him into the film in a cameo, but that just wouldn’t pan out.
Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, Frankel had the idea too late into production, which considering he notes the film was complete only a month before launch, that kinda makes sense. They’d have to shoot or reshoot a scene to include Grenier. It’s also too bad as the actor was left “disappointed” in being left out of the flick, but did get to joke about it in a recent Starbucks ad a few weeks ago.
“I had an idea about sneaking him into a cameo, and, in the end, it was just too late in our production schedule to make it happen.”
Devil Wears Prada 2 hits theaters on May 1.
