HTTYD star picks up role at new John Wick spin-off

John Wick spin-off, Caine, has snagged Idiots and the live action How to Train Your Dragon star, Mason Thames, to play a role in the film. This means he’ll be alongside Donnie Yen, Rina Sawayama, and Dacre Montgomery.

Deadline reports the Yen-led action flick follows on the curtails of John Wick: Chapter 4. With this casting announcement, the film has begun production with Yen not only starring, but also directing and executive producing alongside Courtney Brock. Franchise producers Basil Iwanyk and Erica Lee take the producer chairs alongside Chad Stahelski, John Saunders, and John Wick star Keanu Reeves.

The script is being handled by The Batman Part II writer, Mattson Tomlin, as well as Michael McGrale. The timing of the film’s production lines up as Thames just stepped out of How to Train Your Dragon 2‘s production. Beyond that, though, he’s expected to find new ways to be on the center stage, with Nimrods, the Green Day-inspired flick heading to theaters in August.

Currently, the film’s logline and the finer details around the plot are still held tight to Lionsgate‘s chest.
