Backrooms star avoided the lore, wanting a “fresh perspective”
Backrooms might not be a household name just yet, nor star Lukita Maxwell, but one thing’s for sure and that’s that it’s been a hit. Under the eyes of A24 and the web series creator, Kane Parsons himself, Backrooms has generated over $100 million in just the three days it’s been in theaters. The leading actress, though, wanted to avoid the rabbit hole, wanting a “fresh perspective.”
Speaking to DiscussingFilm, the actress expressed that she watched the first few episodes of the web series before stopping, wanting to keep specific parts of the lore out of her mind to keep a fresh perspective while shooting.
“I was immediately wanting to dive into them, and I watched the first couple of episodes. And then I realized I was starting to go down the rabbit hole, and I wanted my character to have a fresh perspective. I didn’t want to know what the mold meant, and I didn’t wanna know about the number eight, I wanted to keep those out of my head for while we shot.”
That said, Maxwell did listen to Parsons’ music and after shooting wrapped, she dove head first and watched everything.
