The Mandalorian and Grogu first impressions don’t spell good things
We’re getting close to what could be the swansong to Jon Faverau’s time heading up some of the better Star Wars projects before moving on to other projects fully. The Mandalorian and Grogu have been landing in the laps of critics and it seems early impressions are very, very divided.
As compiled by Total Film, some critics, like their very own senior entertainment writer, Molly Edwards, joins the camp of praising it alongside The Mary Sue’s Rachel Leishman and Variety’s Courtney Howard. Meanwhile entertainment journo, Jonathan Sims, labels it “one of the weakest Star Wars movies” on social media. Gizmodo’s Germain Lussier also felt it was pretty weak, noting there were some stand out moments but “left frustrated [by] the rest.”
Whatever your stance is, this could either end up being a huge win for Faverau and will find himself ending his time leading the series with a bang or could end up crashing and burning, leaving fans disappointed. We’re not totally sure how it will go, but The Mandalorian and Grogu caps the entire series. Additionally, it’s always been a bit of a hard sell to require fans head to the theaters to watch something that could’ve been on Disney Plus like the rest of the adventure.
