New McG spy comedy snags Henry Cavill and Kevin Hart

An untitled Netflix-backed spy-action comedy spearheaded by Joseph McGinty Nichol, known professionally as McG, has found its stars with Henry Cavill and Kevin Hart. The film is adaptation of a Sean Lewis short story that sees two rival spies having to play nice together as their wives become fast friends.

Deadline confirms the casting, but notes that while the duo are starring together, specifics around their characters have been kept under wraps. Adam & Aaron Nee and Jonathan Tropper are in charge of the script. In terms of producers, Netflix tapped Shawn Levy, Dan Levine, Ryan Reynolds, George Dewey, Patrick Gooing, Luke Kelly-Clyne, and Bryan Smiley, with Hart also part of the club. Emily Morris is its executive producer.

Cavill has just stepped off his role in Black Bear comedy In the Grey and is poised to star alongside Millie Bobby Brown in Enola Holmes 3 next month. He’s also set to appear in Chad Stahelski’s Highlander reboot and Rawson Marshall Thurber’s Voltron.

Hart, meanwhile, has largely remained off the big screen, with his last role being 2024’s Borderlands adaptation, which saw negative reviews roll in fast. His next role is Netflix’s 72 Hours, which sees a middle-aged guy join a group of strangers at a bachelor party releasing next month. He’s also set to reprise his role in Jumanji: Open World this December.
