New animated feature, Ally, showcases A-list cast
Not too long ago, Neon swiped up North American distribution rights to Bong Joon Ho’s upcoming animated feature, Ally. While the filmmaker’s best known for horror, like his award-winning feature hit, Parasite, this film features some notable A-listers in its cast.
Per Gold Derby, the cast includes the likes of Bradley Cooper, Ayo Edebiri, and Dave Bautista. Beyond that trio, we’ve also got Finn Wolfhard, Alex Jayne Go, Rachel House, and Werner Herzog joining the cast, as well. In terms of crew, Ally is co-written between Ho and Jason Yu, a fellow horror-focused filmmaker. The animation supervisor role is handled by Inside Out and Toy Story 4 alumnus, Jae Hyung Kim, its supervising producer is Shrek franchise’s David Lipman, and Klaus‘ Marcin Jakubowski is the production designer.
Ally, for those unaware, follows a piglet squid who dreams of being the star of a nature documentary, her life gets thrown a curve ball and she must go on a journey to the surface alongside her loyal yet unlikely companions. It’s for the most part billed as a “family adventure blending humor and emotion.”
Ally started production in 2019, though, he expects production to close in early 2027 with a release later that same year.
