Netflix now removes A-Z sorting on web UI

‎ Gabriel Stanford-Reisinger
May 6, 2026

Netflix has lost a lot of good faith from subscribers by doing all sorts of things ranging from price increases to hosting material some find deplorable. Meanwhile, they also like to work on new features, one such change that they’ve seemingly done for one reason or another is removing the ability to sort movies and shows by A-Z on their web UI.

What’s On Netflix reports the disappearance, chalking it up to a larger-scale update Netflix is rolling out for its UI across the board, pointing to how smart TVs and consoles no longer have “New & Popular” or “Categories” pages, instead, it’s a simplified central homepage. They also introduced AI-powered search engine to replace traditional browsing on mobile alongside a TikTok-esque experience of trailers and clips.

It’s also worth noting that this feature was axed from their mobile and smart TV apps, so this is likely just them trying to play catch-up with other versions and making them more similar to one another, especially the web UI and smart TV. Data also points to perhaps Netflix slowly trying to lean away from spending any resources on Netflix’s web app, as it simply doesn’t bring much to the table, only raking in to the tune of 17% of all of Netflix viewership, but that was back in 2022, so we kinda have a feeling that number has dwindled further.

In other Netflix news, though, we’ve got more info on the upcoming Battlefield film, specifically that it’s headed by Michael B. Jordan.
