Battlefield is getting a film adaptation with Michael B. Jordan attached

Adapting games into the world of films can get pretty messy, on one hand, it sounds like it would be a slam dunk — you already have the basis of a story, established characters, and if it’s being adapted, odds are, they already could pick up attention from fans. But, here’s the thing, adapting games to movies takes a special kind of thing, otherwise you end up with middling examples like the 2016 Assassin’s Creed film. In that same vain, you can get stellar examples like The Super Mario Bros. Movie. Now, though, Michael B. Jordan is taking a crack at adapting warfare sim, Battlefield, into a feature film.

Deadline confirms the Sinners star is taking the producer role, and has the potential to star in it, as well, working alongside Christopher McQuarrie who’s pegged to direct, write, and produce. Game developer, Electronic Arts, is also producing the film. We don’t know anything about the film’s plot, but we suspect it’ll have something to do with war, considering that’s all that Battlefield is.

What’s Michael B. Jordan’s next role?

Jordan just got off the high of Sinners, with his next role being Nathan Greno’s animated Netflix-backed flick, Swapped. In that film, he takes the role of a sea otter-like creature that swaps bodies with a sworn enemy, a Kākāpō-like bird, portrayed by Juno Temple.

Considering this is a Netflix film, you can expect it to arrive on the service, as well as select theaters on May 1… so next week.
