Expect more Backrooms “in the not-so-distant future”
While we wait for the release of Kane Parsons’ Backrooms, it sounds like they’re already considering a sequel “in the not-so-distant future.”
The news broke through Screen Rant who got the chance to chat with Parsons at the red carpet premiere of the Backrooms flick. To hear that there’s more isn’t too shocking, the movie, which is based on a YouTube series made up by Parsons himself, has plenty of potential and remains a very popular web series, popular enough for A24 to swipe up rights to adapt the film with the maker at the helm.
“I think there’s a number of things I’m looking at right now. Backrooms, I would have a very hard time saying it’s done. I guess that’s what I can say, but I expect to be seeing a little bit more in the not-so-distant future.”
Backrooms heads to theaters on May 29 and follows therapist Mary Kline as she enters the dimension in search of a missing patient. Kline is portrayed by Renate Reinsve alongside the missing patient — Clark — played by Chiwetel Ejiofor. Will Soodik takes a jab at the script while producers include the likes of James Wan, Michael Clear, Shawn Levy, Dan Levine, and more.
Now, we have a hunch that a sequel will be in the works, but at the same time, it’s hard to really say until the sci-fi horror actually comes to theaters and fans can witness the film themselves to see if reception will be worth another jab.
