Netflix animated musical comedy Leo has released its first trailer. The film debuts on the streaming service on November 21.
The film stars Adam Sandler as Leo, a jaded 74-year-old elementary school classroom pet lizard, alongside Bill Burr as a turtle. After finding out he’s knocking on death’s door next year, he hatches an escape plan to live life outside of the same Florida classroom he’s been stuck in for decades.
What actually ends up happening, though, is he gets swept up in the problems of the classroom, including the mean substitute teacher. So, basically, it’s a movie about a lizard trying to get the most out of the last year he has left.
In terms of directors, Robert Marianetti, Robert Smigel, and David Wachtenheim are taking charge while the film was written by Sandler, Smigel, and Paul Sado, with the Wedding Singer production company’s Happy Madison producing.
The animated coming-of-age flick will mark Sandler’s return to the animation scene, with his last animated role being 2018’s Hotel Transylvania 3: Summer Vacation. Aside from Sandler and Burr, the movie will also feature Cecily Strong, Jason Alexander, Rob Schneider, Sunny Sandler, Jackie Sandler, Sadie Sandler, Heidi Gardner, Nick Swardson, Nicholas Turturro, Smigel, Stephanie Hsu, and Jo Koy.
