Narnia reboot stays in the wardrobe until next year

May 4, 2026

Narnia: The Magician’s Nephew was set to hit theaters during Thanksgiving 2026, following a theatrical release, it would debut on Netflix in December, but it seems the production company has kind of made the right call, delaying the film to early 2027. That period of its initial launch means it would have to compete with the likes of Dune: Part III alongside the much anticipated Avengers: Doomsday.

The Magician’s Nephew is Greta Gerwig’s first film in a series that she plans on doing, adapting each C.S. Lewis’ Narnia books. While the film is the first in the series, in terms of books, this was actually his sixth. We suspect Gerwig plans on adapting the books in chronological order, which is why this book is the best place to start.

With the change in release, the high fantasy Netflix-backed film will release in theaters on February 12, 2027 while it will pop over to Netflix on April 2, 2027.
