Matt Damon in talks to star in Daniels new flick over Ryan Gosling
Over the last three years, Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert — known together as Daniels — has been working on their next flick, which involves global warming, time travel, and possibly superheroes. Initially, the plan was Ryan Gosling would star, but things fell apart once the actor started asking for script changes. This alone wasn’t the problem, but simply put, Daniels didn’t have time to accommodate that since they already got a California tax credit. But, luckily, they may have found their new star in Matt Damon.
THR reports that Damon is in talks to star in the flick headed by the minds behind Everything Everywhere All at Once. Casting was apparently a nightmare, having had to postpone filming at least once. With the Cali tax credit, though, production has to start by the end of the summer.
Gosling’s time in the room here was short-lived, only about a week or two before they had to search for another big name to take his place. Damon fit the bill, especially as he’s well-liked at Universal, which is also backing the project. Casting is still seemingly ongoing to find Damon’s teenage son.
In other Matt Damon news, he’s still kind of swept up in a legal battle alongside Ben Affleck over their Netflix crime drama, The Rip.
