TV personality and actress Ellen DeGeneres is returning to the Pixar universe as Dory once again in a brand-new short. The short’s plot is still under wraps, but if Dory is involved — potentially even starring, if we had to guess — then it probably will tie back into the ditzy royal blue tang’s forgetful personality.
Deadline reports on the endeavor, though, we feel like it’s important to note this isn’t that shocking, as DeGeneres has been very active in keeping her legacy as Dory alive, having voiced the character not just in the 2003 classic, Finding Nemo, and its subsequent 2016 sequel, Finding Dory, but also on theme park attractions like Disneyland’s Finding Nemo Submarine Voyage.
For those who have somehow not got the memo about this royal blue tang, Dory is the secondary protagonist of Finding Nemo, accompanying clownfish father, Marlin, played by Albert Brooks, in his journey to rescue his son Nemo, played by Alexander Gould. The original flick was directed and co-written by Andrew Stanton with Bob Peterson and David Reynolds while Graham Walters produced.
Its 2016 sequel, Finding Dory, reunited Stanton with the series, and emerged very successful, spawning around $1 billion at the box office.
