Crystal Lake showrunner shares — and deletes –teaser of Jason Voorhees

Jason Voorhees has managed to stick with the times and become an all-time dastardly adversary for generations within the Friday the 13th franchise, which has its roots in the 80s. For all his success, he was awarded with 12 total flicks and a spot at the slasher’s table alongside Freddy Kruger and Ghostface. But, the upcoming Crystal Lake series departs from the norm and puts a focus on his mother, Pamela. That doesn’t stop him from being the crux of a first-look.

On social media (via Bloody Disgusting), showrunner Brad Caleb Kane teased an image of what looks like the back of Jason’s severely disfigured head. Now, Kane has since deleted the post, but that isn’t totally an admission of jumping the gun, as we can probably expect some news on Monday.

CRYSTAL LAKE showrunner Brad Caleb Kane has taken to Instagram to tease the return of YOUNG JASON VOORHEES.

"News coming. Monday," he teases.

Now, the rest of the cast, they haven’t skipped on that, either. Young Jason Voorhees is taken on by Callum Vinson, who appears in Syfy and USA Network’s Chucky alongside Linda Cardellini. Crystal Lake, as you may expect, is an origin story of sorts for the hockey mask-wearing slasher as it also follows his mother giving up her singing career to better care for her special needs child.

The series is slated to release on Peacock and marks the return of the franchise since 2009’s Platinum Dunes remake. Odds are this will be a first-look at the slasher series.
