The Super Mario Galaxy Movie digital purchase coming this month

May 15, 2026

Best prepare your wallets for Mario and Yoshi as The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is poised to release on Prime Video as a PVOD next week after exactly 47 days. You can even pre-order it right now if you want.

Screen Rant reports the flick, which is a sequel to Illumination’s immensely popular Super Mario Bros. Movie from back in 2023, which we gave a B to, will be available to purchase or rent on May 18. The film stands at around $942 million, narrowly missing the previous entry’s $1.3 billion. Now, to be fair, it’s still raking in some profit in theaters, so it’s not like it’s totally down and out or like Universal needs to release the film to PVOD to make up costs.

The Super Mario Galaxy Movie introduces a host of iconic characters to the mix, including Princess Rosalina, Fox McCloud, Bowser Jr., and Yoshi. The film is hitting high marks with audiences, but critics aren’t too pleased.
