Shangri-La Frontier hits Netflix next week

Anime on streaming not dedicated to the medium tend to fall short a fair bit, but Netflix seems to be upping their game as Shangri-La Frontier takes center stage next week alongside the iconic detective anime, Detective Conan.

Produced by C2C and directed by Toshiyuki Kubooka, Shangri-La Frontier was once a Crunchyroll exclusive. Currently sitting on 16 million copies of the source manga in circulation, it’s no doubt why the adaptation became a thing. Kazuyuki Fudesayu adapts the Katarina-written novel and manga, which started in mid-2020, AKA when all people could do was sit around and enjoy copious amounts of entertainment in all forms.

The manga is ongoing with 26 volumes released so far.

What is Shangri-La Frontier about?

Shangri-La Frontier follows Rakurou Hizutome, a high schooler who has a passion for broken games. When he catches wind of a new VR game, Shangri-La Frontier, he does a stupid thing by selling the starting gear and finds out just how difficult that made the game.

Shangri-La Frontier sets its sights on releasing to Netflix on May 1, which just so happens to be the same date as Detective Conan.
