Michael Jackson nephew says media can’t “control the narrative” as Michael comes to theaters

Michael Jackson largely needs no introduction — even those who dislike him as a person cannot deny his influence that seeped into the music world, especially the pop scene. But, one massive controversial trial and overdose later, the King of Pop is largely seen as a figure who sexually abused minors and got away with it because of his immense influence.

In steps the many, many documentaries that uncover his misdeeds. But, one doc that didn’t go into depth about the allegations was that of Michael, a biopic put together by director Antoine Fuqua, writer John Logan, and produced by Graham King, John Branca, and John McClain. The doc releases today, but critics were quick to bash the doc for being — as said by IGN — “really, really bad,” others labeling the doc as being “sanitized.”

Taj Jackson tells critics to “eat crow”

One person who will defend the documentary, though, is that of Taj Jackson, the late popstar’s nephew. On social media, the living Jackson didn’t stand by Michael’s daughter, Paris, who asserted the doc was “full of lies,” instead, saying the media “don’t get to control the narrative” of who Jackson was. This doc will let people decide for themselves. He also tells critics to “eat crow” and that he will be “that petty.”

Can’t wait till some critics have to eat crow. And yes I will be that petty.

Now, of course, many will question why the doc fails to discuss the allegations, but fans have heard the reason, that being that it’s about his origin story more than anything, according to Colman Domingo, who plays the Jackson’s father in the film alongside Jaafar Jackson as the icon himself.

Michael is projected to make $65 to $70 million during its opening weekend and as much as $150 million wordwide.
