Jason Momoa steps out of Helldivers movie adaptation
Jason Momoa was set to star in a movie adaption of PlayStation’s mega-hit live service, Helldivers, unfortunately, it seems he’s stepped out, leading to Sony seeking a new lead. At this time, we aren’t sure why he’s departed, but if we had to guess, it’s probably some scheduling conflicts.
Deadline broke the story, asserting that the project is still very much alive, but a new lead is now needed. There isn’t word of who could be in the talks to take Momoa’s place, and no more details about the plot of the film have surfaced.
In terms of staffing, Hutch Parker takes the role of producer alongside Asad Qizilbash and Justin Lin, the last of which is also the director.
In case you’ve been living under a rock, Helldivers is a co-op shooter that dates back to 2015, but arguably got its stride from Arrowhead Game Studio’s Helldivers 2, which changed the formula from a twin-stick shooter to a third-person live service shooter that garnered a lot of players across PlayStation and PC and somewhat recently launched to Xbox.
