A Minecraft Movie sequel gets new name

Sitting just shy of a billion at the box office, A Minecraft Movie was a huge success, enough for Warner Bros. to warrant a sequel film. While the flick was announced late last year, we now have a (rather cheeky) title for the upcoming flick slotted for a 2027 release — A Minecraft Movie Squared.

The film’s plot is still under wraps, but fans expect the same crew — Jack Black, Jason Momoa, Sebastian Hansen, and the lot — to return to the blocky world for another adventure. The adaptation’s title was revealed during this month’s Minecraft Live.

In case you didn’t follow the previous film, A Minecraft Movie starred the likes of Jack Black, playing the role of iconic Steve, Jason Momoa, who plays a rundown pro gamer, and Sebastian Hansen, a boy who’s fallen into the care of his sister after their mother’s death, with the latter two end up transported into the world of Minecraft. The transported crew have to go on a journey to get home.
